CAMBRIDGE, MA and PORTSMOUTH NH July 2, 2007–Head Of The Charles Regatta®, the world’s largest two-day rowing event, has selected Whaleback Systems as its telephony provider for the annual New England fall spectacle that takes place on Boston’s Charles River, October 20-21, 2007.
Head Of The Charles Regatta has deployed Whaleback’s CrystalBlue Voice service, a managed, commercial-grade broadband-based telephony service for small and medium sized businesses, at its Cambridge headquarters. The Regatta will utilize CrystalBlue Voice at its administrative offices throughout the year. During race weekend, Whaleback will expand the solution to provide end-to-end telephony service at the Regatta operations headquarters including the organization’s international media center and merchandise, sponsorship services and race committee offices.
“Whaleback’s voice services offer a unique blend of hardware and services that address our key operational needs—an enterprise-class telephony service with reliability and rich features that are grounded in operational flexibility and simplicity,” said Fred Schoch, the Regatta’s Executive Director. “It is simple with Whaleback. We can concentrate on staging a world-class event while Whaleback manages the telecom service and equipment. We don’t have to purchase a PBX and phones and worry about unloading an outdated piece of equipment in a few years and we can easily and cost-effectively scale our telecom service during race weekend while avoiding costly line activation fees.”
The installation, service activation and training of the CrystalBlue Voice service for Head Of The Charles is managed by Fusion ConneX, a Whaleback channel partner. Fusion ConneX also provides first-level support for the solution. Fusion Connex, based in Londonderry, NH, is a telecommunications services company that resells Whaleback’s managed IP PBX service to small and medium sized business customers in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
Now in its 43rd year, the Head Of The Charles Regatta is the world’s largest two-day regatta attracting more than 8,000 rowers and 250,000 spectators to the banks of the Charles River. Official Regatta races will begin on Saturday, October 20, with club and master’s event, as well as the Championship Singles and Doubles events. Racing concludes on Sunday, October 21, with age-classified, collegiate and lightweight events as well as the Championship Fours and Eights events.
