PORTSMOUTH, NH. - Whaleback Systems™ has named Louis Piazza as vice president of operations, where he is responsible for scaling operations to support the continued growth of Whaleback's CrystalBlue Voice Service™, which provides Small and Medium Businesses (SMBs) all-inclusive local and long-distance calling at one low price.
Piazza has focused his career on the commercialization of advanced network and telecommunications technology. In this new assignment, he will manage network operations, customer service, deployment services and carrier services. He most recently served as founder and CEO of Gotham Networks, a developer of high-performance, high-availability networking equipment built for the nation's largest telecommunication carriers. He also served as senior vice president of operations for Wellfleet Communications (now Nortel, NYSE:NT), where he managed business operations during the company's explosive growth from zero to $85 million, a period during which Fortune magazine awarded the company America's "Fastest Growing Private Company" for two consecutive years.
Piazza began his career at Bolt, Beranek and Newman (BBN) where he was the vice president of engineering for network development. BBN was an early developer of the TCP/IP network technology that forms the basis for the VoIP industry. Piazza was a member of the executive management team that developed, installed and managed MCI's frame relay network, MasterCard's credit card authorization network, the U.S. Department of Defense Data Network and the corporate networks of Olivetti, Barclay's Bank, National Westminister Bank and 3M Corporation. Piazza holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
