SAN JOSE, CA. - Whaleback Systems™ introduced two major new features to the CrystalBlue Voice Service™, which provides Small and Medium Businesses (SMBs) with access to rich Voice over IP (VoIP) functionality that they can leverage via a simple broadband cable or DSL connection. The features are available immediately and are being displayed at VON Spring 2006 Spring Conference and Expo.
At the show, Whaleback is debuting Road Warrior Functionality™ and OrcaDial. Road Warrior Functionality allows businesses to seamlessly extend their office communications to employees that are on the road or working from home-irrespective of their location, underlying access network or endpoint device. It allows SMBs to connect multiple offices, mobile employees and telecommuters as if they were all located under a single roof.
Whaleback's exclusive Road Warrior Functionality feature connects customers with employees regardless of their location and gives mobile employees full access to the company's SMB 1500 IP PBX, which streamlines communications and improves productivity.
Road Warrior Functionality includes the ability to provide members of the distributed workforce with a second IP telephone or PC-based softphone that mirrors the behavior of their desktop phone-including the custom settings and preferences of each employee. This provides remote or traveling employees with all the power of their desktop phone, and allows them to transparently work from home.
Road Warrior Functionality also allows traveling workers to access all the features of the CrystalBlue Voice Service's premises-based SMB 1500 IP PBX from Wi-Fi locations. A user can just log into a Wi-Fi hotspot and rely on a laptop-based softphone from Whaleback to make and receive telephone calls, and leverage the powerful functionality of the SMB 1500 IP PBX.
The innovative OrcaDial feature enhances productivity by delivering click-to-dial functionality across multiple applications. A user can highlight a phone number in a desktop application and hit the F10 key to establish a call. Unlike traditional click-to-dial features that work only with contact directories, OrcaDial works with diverse desktop applications, including Microsoft (Nasdaq:MSFT) Word, Excel and Powerpoint as well as Adobe (Nasdaq:ADBE) PDF files. It also allows users to click on phone numbers displayed on Web pages or email clients to initiate calls.
