A customer wants to take an existing OrcaFax number with a single email address and change it to an email distribution list. Clearly incoming faxes will go to the distribution list. How do we make this work - or doesn't it? If it does work for incoming and outgoing faxes, then what are the pros and cons? OrcaFax requires a valid email account in order to SEND and RECEIVE faxes. A valid email account can be an individual account such as john.doe@acme.com or a group account such assupport@acme.com. In this example John Doe can forward his received faxes to the support distribution list but the support group cannot receive them automatically or, for that matter, directly send faxes out. If John Doe changes his OrcaFax account to support@acme.com, then he will no longer get faxes directly to his email account and in order to send faxes, he would need to log into thesupport@acme.comemail account to do so.So the best answer is to buy a second OrcaFax account for the support group at $4.95 per month. That way John Doe can send and receive or forward them at will. At the same time, the support group can send and receive their group faxes as well. That’s why we made the second and subsequent OrcaFax accounts inexpensive to meet the needs of applications just like this one. In a multiple SMB environment, where one location is on one system and another location of the company is on another, can we forward voice mail messages between the two systems? The voicemail systems are not integrated. If your voicemail got sent to you as an email, that is the best way to forward it to the other person. When prompted to use the Name Directory, there are no listings for users NOT included on the local system. I want to make sure I understand how this works in a distributed environment? The Name Directory requires someone to record all the user names for the users to show up. In order for it to say, “for Mark Galvin, press 1”, the “Mark Galvin” needs to be recorded. So we need to record these names in both systems or copy them from one to the other. This is accomplished in a streamlined fashion using the 887, , 6 option. You can record all the names in a streamlined manner so the operator or customer admin can easily record everyone’s name. How long does it take to receive a 60-page fax? That depends on the density of the pages and the speed of the transmitter. It can be from 15 minutes to an hour. The speed is limited by the sending fax machine. How long after receipt do we send via e-mail to a person? A few seconds. What fax summary reports are available to the customer? None at this time. What kind of information is provided if a fax transmission fails? In general, for a sent fax it is the cover information that was included in the sent email and the time and reason for the failure (e.g., receiving fax machine out of paper, busy, etc.) For a received fax with errors it is as much as was received and that there was an error.
